Overview

A growing construction company in Folsom is seeking a skilled Staff Accountant for a temp-to-hire opportunity. The ideal candidate has strong accounting fundamentals, enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, and is comfortable supporting both corporate and project-based accounting functions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries; support month-end and year-end close
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy and account reconciliations
  • Assist with AP/AR review, project billing, and payment processing
  • Support job cost accounting and project reporting
  • Reconcile bank statements and credit card activity
  • Assist with audits and preparation of supporting documentation
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation entries
  • Analyze financial data and prepare standard reporting packages
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
  • Collaborate with project managers, operations, and leadership teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
  • Minimum 2 years of Staff Accountant experience
  • Construction industry experience preferred but not required
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • Proficiency with Excel; experience with construction or ERP accounting software a plus
  • Excellent accuracy, organization, and analytical skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
